the history
Established in 1901 and so-named for brewer’s daughter Rosi Pschorr, this tent opened as Oktoberfest’s first electrically illuminated space. Having suffered wartime damage and revivals, the Heide family (1936–2020) defined its heritage through additions such as the 1954 Bundwerk-style facade and the 2011 beer ring line.
Reimagined in 2022 with a 15-meter ridge (Oktoberfest’s highest) and historic green-and-gold trim, it fuses tradition and contemporary style. Under Peter Reichert since 2020, it honors Rosi’s charm while hosting brass bands by day and lively nights, a testament to Bavarian resilience and revelry.
Highlights
Parade customs: The Oktoberfest opening day parade and the Traditional Costume & Marksmen’s Parade on the first Sunday culminate with the Bräurosl, which is represented by a mounted rider and represents the long Bavarian tradition of the tent.
Gay Sunday: The Münchner Löwen Club at the Bräurosl has been hosting Gay Sunday for almost 30 years. From its modest beginnings as a tiny leather-clad group to its current vibrant, open celebration, Gay Sunday has grown to become a mainstay of the LGBTQ+ community at Oktoberfest.
