the history

The Weinzelt tent proves wine has belonged at Oktoberfest beer tents since 1885, starting with small wine stands. In 1984, Roland Kuffler and Dr. Erich Kaub took over a wine-only tent called Zum Wein-Wirt. By 1999, the Kuffler family rebranded it as Kufflers Weinzelt, expanding it in 2005 with 500 more seats. Stephan Kuffler has run it since 1994 (officially named Wiesnwirt in 2000), joined by his brother Sebastian Kuffler in 2022.

The tent is a heaven for wine enthusiasts, with an extensive wine list, sparkling wine, prosecco, and champagne, accompanied by Paulaner wheat beer (served in half-liter mugs).

Although the emphasis is on wine, it does offer non-alcoholic beverages as well, pleasing everyone. The Weinzelt is open until 9 PM, making it a flexible choice at Oktoberfest, combining vinous elegance with Bavarian beer culture.

Weinzelt tent is not easy to surpass in terms of food diversity, with the best of Munich’s Kuffler restaurants, featured as the highlights. With long-time management by Freddy Gutierrez, the tent has become highly rated for combining gourmet cuisine with the celebratory atmosphere of Oktoberfest.

  • Meat Courses: Taste Bavarian pork hocks, chicken, rich beef goulash (hearty stew), and mouthwatering veal schnitzel (breaded and fried), highlighting the authentic flavors of the region.
  • Vegetarian options: Savor organic vegetable tartare, vegetarian steak frites, and a seasonal vegetable strudel with light sauce—created for green diets.
  • Desserts variations: Savor Bavarian cream with berry compote or apple strudel warm with vanilla sauce, combining tradition and contemporary sweetness.
  • Seafood: The daily fish variety, such as grilled salmon and seafood platters, indicates the tent’s willingness and diversity for various tastes.

tent Location and accessibility

The Weinzelt tent is perfectly located on Matthias-Pschorr-Straße, adjacent to Käfers Wiesn-Schänke and opposite the Löwenbräu tent.
