The Käfer Wiesn-Schänke started out in 1971 as a modest chicken roasting house seating 50 people. In 1972, founder Gerd Käfer replaced the conventional tent with a rustic wooden log cabin, giving patrons a one-of-a-kind Oktoberfest experience. Since 1995, his son Michael Käfer has headed the tent, assisted by Clarissa Käfer since 2008.

The origin of the name is the Käfer-Schänke restaurant, which was established in 1970. The tradition of the Käfers began in 1930 with a small store by Elsa and Paul Käfer, and nowadays the brand is internationally famous for its delicatessen, restaurants, and party services. 

Music

The Käfer Wiesn-Schänke has five bands playing on the ground floor and second floor, generating an energetic atmosphere.

• Afternoon Moods: “Hansi und die Käfergang” (Hansi and the Käfer Gang) creates the ambiance each afternoon on the second floor.
• Party at Night: The evening is taken over by the Munich band “Gerry & Gary,” promoting a party in the lodge style.
• Hit After Hit: Bands such as “The Snoops,” “The Speedos,” and the “Martl Sax Band” maintain the energy with traditional Oktoberfest favorites and current hits.
