the history
Since the 1950s, the Hacker-Festzelt has been referred to as “Bavaria’s heaven.” It became one of the most popular Oktoberfest venues under Toni Roiderer (1989–2018), who frequently had it filled to the brim.
In 2015-2016, his son Thomas Roiderer added a new structure, raising the height of the tent to 14.2 meters and a 50-meter covered balcony. Indoor seating fell by 100 seats, but outdoor seating was increased, with two additional seats in total. These changes have maintained the tent as a lively Oktoberfest staple.
Hacker-Festzelt Beer
The Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest beer, available only at the Hacker-Festzelt during Wiesn-time, is a classic Oktoberfest beer. Derived from the tradition of Märzen, this golden-colored beer is made with malt-aromatic flavor and a smooth, crisp finish so that it will taste great year in and year out.
Historically, Märzen was brewed from September 29th (Michaeli) through April 23rd (Georg) because of the summer brewing fire hazard and necessity of a cold fermentation temperature of 4-6°C. Its unique charm and high quality result from this seasonal brewing.
