the history

The Goldener Hahn has established itself as one of Oktoberfest’s most quaint little tents since its debut in 2015. Its wooden beams and cosy atmosphere, reminiscent of a rustic mountain lodge, draw middle-aged patrons who enjoy its sparkling wine and “surf & turf” menu, which is a sophisticated take on festival fare.

The tent gained notoriety in 2023 for requiring a minimum reservation fee of €176.50 per person, although its reasonably priced lunch specials demonstrate flexibility. This tent, which takes its name from the “Golden Rooster,” a representation of Bavarian hospitality, combines comfort and luxury to provide a more refined and quiet option to the Wiesn’s boisterous halls.

Goldener Hahn music

DREISAM LIVE: A Wiesn backbone since the beginning, this band puts on exciting shows every night, fusing party tunes with audience participation to create an unforgettable experience.

HotSaxClub: An all-female saxophone powerhouse that combines captivating live performers with heartfelt dinner music. Expect glitz, audience participation, and exceptional musicianship when you see them on September 23, 24, 27, and October 3.

GAMSKULT: This band is versatile and lively, covering everything from rock/pop hits to Bavarian folk every day from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. They are ideal for sing-alongs during the day.

dance

The tent becomes a Bavarian cultural centre every Monday and Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, complete with lively Schuhplattler folk dances, exciting whipcracker performances, and live cowbell melodies. These afternoons combine dance, music, and rustic charm in a nostalgic homage to Alpine customs.

Beer

The Goldener Hahn provides a carefully selected range of beers, adhering to Bavarian brewing traditions while prioritizing quality over quantity. An authentic Oktoberfest experience is ensured by the careful craftsmanship shown in each pour.

Goldener Hahn menu

The Goldener Hahn keeps its dishes constantly fresh with a flexible menu instead of one set menu, presenting a rotating menu of offerings daily that highlights the best in-season flavors of German and Bavarian cuisine.

  • Meat Dishes: Enjoy classics like Wiesnhendl (Oktoberfest chicken), roast chicken, goose, duck, or half-duck—all prepared with Bavarian flair.
  •  Vegetarian Option: Try the hearty baked potato topped with hummus, cherry tomatoes, and fresh salad, red cabbage and dumplings.
  • Breakfast & Kids: Early birds enjoy the “Verkaterter Hahn”—a pretzel sandwich with a fried egg, served until noon. Kids can choose from a dedicated menu until 6:00 PM.
