the history

Founded by Hanns-Werner Glöckle and currently run by Stephanie Rollwagen, the quaint Glöckle has been a popular Oktoberfest staple since its opening in 1990. Despite having only 90 seats in its original tent, it survived a devastating fire in 2002 and became famous for its oddball illegal cellar, which was constructed to increase storage space. Resiliently rebuilt, the tent now celebrates its rich heritage with Bavarian antiques and memorabilia.

The tent added a charming beer garden to its space after the nearby Zur Bratwurst tent moved in 2011. This cosy tent, which is well-known for fusing traditional Bavarian cosiness with international flavours, provides a nostalgic escape from the chaos of the Wiesn.

serving Beer

The Glöckle Wirt serves Spaten-Franziskaner Weissbier along with other Bavarian beer specialties, providing a cool wheat beer experience. Non-drinkers are also catered to, with a choice of non-alcoholic drinks available, so everyone can participate in the Oktoberfest cheers.
