the history
The Marstall-Festzelt took over in 2014 from the historic Hippodrom, which closed because of tax evasion, its predecessor’s art nouveau façade remaining but now enhanced with kitschy elements such as heart-shaped windows and a simple Nordic interior. The tent is famous for its high-end, unusual menu, and includes its entertainment updates in 2022 with the Königlich Bayerisches Vollgasorchester, established by members of the original band who defected.
Music now begins at 11 AM (as of 2024), invigorating daytime visitors. Horse-themed decorations pay homage to Oktoberfest’s 1810 origins, based on the royal “Marstall” riding school, marrying tradition with contemporary style.

Marstall-Festzelt Music
Each band transforms the Marstall-Festzelt’s vibe, ensuring the celebration evolves from laid-back mornings to electrifying nights. The bands are
- Host mi Band: Starting the day at 11:00 AM, Host mi Band weaves authentic Bavarian songs into high-energy entertainment, creating a warm, inviting ambiance just right for the afternoon Oktoberfest clientele. Their performances are equally balanced between tradition and party atmosphere, making them the perfect fit for patrons looking to introduce themselves to the fun with mugs of Spaten or Franziskaner brew.
- Sandhofen Band: Since 2010, the Sandhofen Band has been an institution at 2:30 PM, playing a family-friendly party atmosphere to both locals and international travelers alike. With their energetic vibe and appeal to everyone, they are Oktoberfest’s spirit as an international celebration that makes everyone from toddlers to grandparents feel the magic of the Wiesn.
- Royal Bavarian Full Throttle Orchestra: At 6:30 PM, the Royal Bavarian Full Throttle Orchestra arrives, blending Bavarian heritage (i.e., lederhosen, dirndls, and folk heritage) with tireless energy. Their name alone promises it all: “Vollgas” (full gas) translates into continuous adrenaline, intensity, and 100% commitment to the stage. The 5-member dynamo fulfills the “orchestra” label, transforming the tent into an adrenaline-fueled dance party with folk-rock staples and stage-tearing shows.
Beer
The Marstall-Festzelt serves two classic beers: Spaten Oktoberfestbier and Franziskaner wheat beer, whose deep flavors are exactly what the festival spirit is all about. In addition to beer, the tent provides top-shelf wines, spirits, champagne, and soft drinks, so that every toast will be remembered.
Marstall-Festzelt menu
The tent is a culinary experience of Bavarian heritage, fusing rare delicacies with ancient recipes. From a variety of options prepared with original ingredients, each dish honors the heritage of the region yet meets contemporary taste.
- Breakfast in the Marstall-Festzelt provides a special beginning to your Oktoberfest day with beautifully displayed tiered stands. The sweet tiered stand is filled with fluffy scrambled eggs that are topped with chives, and the green tiered stand is filled with basil cream sauce and is accompanied by flaky pistachio croissants and rustic wood-fired bread. It’s a Bavarian twist on breakfast that’s as visually appealing as it is delicious.
- Meat lovers find rich favorites such as crispy Oktoberfest roast chicken and fall-off-the-bone pork knuckle. The tender roast ox dissolves with deep flavor, and platters of Bavarian sausages bring the festival’s signature wurst experience.
- Dessert lovers can look forward to treats such as warm, sweet dumplings with vanilla sauce and apple strudel with cinnamon-spiced filling. The highlight is the Marstall Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancakes) fried in a pan, served with stewed apricot and apple sauce. For contemporary indulgence, indulge in decadent chocolate lava cake or tangy lemon sorbet.
- Vegetarian and vegan visitors can enjoy creative alternatives to tradition, such as rich homemade chickpea and quinoa patties or skewers of grilled vegetables full of smoky richness. The vegan potato salad from Bavaria and vegetable sausages are plant-based, guaranteeing that everybody gets to enjoy true Oktoberfest flavor.
- Kids menu: Children enjoy their Bavarian adventure in the form of a meal complete with chicken nuggets, dumplings, and spaetzle, served along with a complimentary fruit puree squeeze pouch—a healthy and delicious addition that maintains little energy stores for the merriment.
